New Jersey Public Media Funds

These two NJ PBS Funds are designed to allow our organization to remain a relevant public media offering for years to come.

We’ve structured these Funds not only to provide flexibility to our organization, but also to you, our donors, as a means of supporting our work across broad areas that align with your interests and passions.  With that in mind, our support levels begin at $2,500.

New Jersey Production Fund

NJ PBS intends to produce more of its own non-news content – to do so, we need to secure funds designated to ensure that NJ PBS becomes a place that viewers will go when they want to better understand our State’s innovation, diversity and history. We want our fellow residents to have great pride in all the ways New Jersey is exceptional – but also want to create content that helps others around the world see it as well. The launch of this fund will be a pioneering first step for public media content about and for New Jersey.

This spring NJ PBS has launched several new programs and revisited several favorite programs from our history.

Examples of programs this initiative will support will be like The American Songbook with NJPAC, Treasures of New Jersey, Soundcheck at the Count Basie Theater, Table for All, Look Up with Darley Newman and Front Row Film Festival, a partnership with the Montclair Film Festival. This fund will enable an expansion of this program slate.

News and Public Affairs Fund

NJ PBS has become a leader in New Jersey coverage – from the gubernatorial election to COVID coverage. But much more remains to be done to address serious coverage gaps. With this in mind, NJ PBS intends to raise significant support over the next three years to establish the NJ PBS News Fund, which will fuel innovation in the following areas:

  • New platforms: continue growth of digital news offerings, as well as an expansion into audio journalism—including new podcast series
  • Increased State-wide coverage: better serving all the state of New Jersey, including southern and rural areas
  • Issue-driven journalism: providing deeper dives into the impact that state government decisions have on diverse and vulnerable communities, multi-platform reporting through a solution-based lens to help our communities solve common problems, and investing in our new mental health and social justice and equity reporting content threads.

This clip from HerStory about Women in the Workplace helped expand our outreach by taking a deep dive into issues affecting the women of New Jersey. We’re seeking donors to this fund who feel as passionately about NJ centric news as we do! Watch the preview now!
