June 14, 2018 – NEWARK, NJ – NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, announced that Long Branch on Tuesday, July 3 is the next In Your Neighborhood initiative live broadcast this year. NJTV has been showcasing some of the Garden State’s most dynamic places with In Your Neighborhood by combining news, special programming and community engagement events. For Long Branch, along with local stories, the network will take an in-depth look into New Jersey tourism across the state.
“We want to evolve NJTV’s In Your Neighborhood into programming that also puts local towns into a larger state context,” said NJTV General Manager John Servidio. “Visiting Long Branch at the height of the summer shore tourism season is a perfect opportunity to grow the content in this program and springboard from the beach to other high-profile points of interest across the state like national parks and historical sites to entertainment venues.”
In Your Neighborhood: Long Branch kicks off with a special live early edition of the network’s newscast, NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams, at 5:30pm featuring headlining news and scheduled interviews with local guests, followed by a live half-hour NJTV In Your Neighborhood Special at 6pm, both broadcast from the Long Branch boardwalk.
The In Your Neighborhood: Long Branch Special will also be livestreamed and available live on Facebook.
To keep the conversation going, a follow-up community event is being planned for this summer, where the network’s engagement team will gather groups of residents, thought leaders and stakeholders to discuss issues affecting Long Branch.
“The response to this initiative from the communities we have visited to date has been tremendous,” said Servidio. “Residents are always asking us when we’ll be back.”
Support for NJTV‘s In Your Neighborhood: Long Branch initiative is provided in part by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the PSEG Foundation. The views expressed in the programming do not necessarily reflect the views of the sponsors.
