NHK WORLD-JAPAN, Japan’s Sole Public English-Language Channel, Launches on NJTV on April 1, 2018

NEW JERSEY (Updated September 10, 2018) — NHK WORLD-JAPAN the English-language channel operated by Japan’s sole public broadcaster NHK, is proud to announce its partnership with NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, to serve the Northern New Jersey and New York City region. NJTV, which already launched NHK service in the Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia region last year, joins stations in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Denver, Orlando, Charlotte, Atlanta and Baltimore as NHK WORLD-JAPAN partners in distributing its hourly live news and Japanese lifestyle programming. NHK WORLD-JAPAN officially launches on NJTV on April 1, 2018.

NHK WORLD-JAPAN is a 24/7 public television network featuring original programming from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation Inc.). NHK WORLD-JAPAN delivers a unique and diverse blend of English-language programming featuring hourly live international news from Tokyo and 30 news bureaus around the globe and programs on Japanese society, politics, scientific advancement, culture, history, food and lifestyle. Featured NHK WORLD-JAPAN programs include “NHK NEWSLINE,”  “Dining with the Chef” and “Journeys in Japan.” “NHK NEWSLINE” delivers a fair and impartial international newscast at the top of the hour. “Dining with the Chef” showcases demonstrations of easy-to-make Japanese dishes by Chef Tatsuo Saito and cooking researcher, Rika Yukimasa. “Journeys in Japan” explores local cultures and lifestyles while offering travel hints rarely found in guidebooks.

Local viewers can watch on Optimum channel 142, Spectrum channel 1279, FiOs 481 (HD) and 482 (SD), Xfinity channels 265 and 1157 or OTA channel 58.2 in Northern New Jersey and New York. For programming, viewers can visit http://www.njtvonline.org/schedule/.

Under an initiative known as One School, One Country, Japanese elementary and junior high schools are devoting their enthusiasm to specific national or regional teams in 2020.
