NJTV’s In Your Neighborhood initiative takes public television deeper into the communities it serves than ever before; includes local community forum, live broadcasts and special programming

December 5, 2017 — NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, is heading to New Brunswick for the next stop in its In Your Neighborhood initiative road tour this December, providing viewers with a special evening of live and local programming on December 13 and the community with a town hall forum on December 18. Combining news, local programming and community engagement events across its on-air and digital platforms, NJTV has been showcasing some of the Garden State’s most dynamic places this year.

“New Brunswick is a hub for New Jersey, for business, education, healthcare and more, making it a perfect location for our next In Your Neighborhood visit,” said NJTV General Manager John Servidio. “We look forward to sharing this city’s many stories with the rest of the state while honing in on key local issues on-air, online and in person.”

Like earlier stops, NJTV’s In Your Neighborhood: New Brunswick is comprised of two parts; one on and one beyond television.

NJTV will kick off its New Brunswick tour stop on Wednesday, December 13 with a special, live edition of NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams at 5:30pm followed by a live In Your Neighborhood: New Brunswick Special from Brother Jimmy’s BBQ at 6pm. The live broadcasts will be followed by a local edition of One-On-One with Steve Adubato and an encore of the NJTV In Your Neighborhood Special at 8pm that evening. The Special will also be live-streamed and available live on Facebook.

NJTV’s In Your Neighborhood: New Brunswick continues with a livestreamed community forum on Monday, December 18 at the Adult Learning Center, 268 Baldwin St. in New Brunswick at 6pm. The topic: the challenges of local housing and their effect on community health and quality of life. RSVP here.

NJTV’s In Your Neighborhood initiative is made possible by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The community forum is being presented in collaboration with New Brunswick Tomorrow. The views expressed in the programming do not necessarily reflect the views of the sponsors.

NJTV’s In Your Neighborhood is a state-wide broadcast and community engagement initiative that spotlights issues impacting communities throughout New Jersey. Its goal is to provide the entire state with an in-depth look at each city through the many perspectives of those who live, work and visit there. NJTV explores topics of education, infrastructure, politics, commerce, health, arts, culture and more in each location. In 2017, the initiative has stopped in Camden, Trenton and Asbury Park, with additional special newscasts from Union Township and the Hoboken Terminal.
