Wednesday, January 7, 2015 — NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams, the weeknight newscast of NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, will feature a series of one-on-one interviews with U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson this week.

Johnson sat down in-studio with anchor Mary Alice Williams on December 29th for an intimate discussion of an array of topics affecting New Jerseyans and all Americans, including immigration, counter-terrorism, FEMA, Cuba, the security status of ports, water supplies and electric grids, and the state of internal relations between government agencies.

Interview segments will begin airing on NJTV News with Mary Alice Williams tonight, with Johnson discussing the country’s port security, particularly Port Newark in New Jersey, the principal container ship facility for goods entering and leaving New York/New Jersey metropolitan area.

Catch a sneak peek at the interview online now as Johnson reflects on “the terrorist threat to our nation is still out there” and the “threats to the homeland from within the homeland.”

Johnson is the fourth Secretary of Homeland Security. Secretary Johnson previously served as General Counsel for the Department of Defense, where he oversaw the development of the legal aspects of many U.S. counter-terrorism policies and reforms to the military commissions system at Guantanamo Bay in 2009. He co-authored the 250-page report that paved the way for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in 2010, among other career highlights.
