New Jersey’s public television network raised nearly $400,000 in an evening devoted to recognizing the partnerships that allow NJTV to deliver local and national multimedia programming and community resources
May 29, 2014–NEWARK, NJ –NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, raised nearly$400,000 at its First Annual Benefit, which took place on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC). The benefit was attended by hundreds of corporate and philanthropic leaders and co-chaired by Ralph Izzo (Chairman & CEO, PSE&G) and Josh Weston (Public Media NJ, Inc. chairman and former CEO, ADP).
At the NJTV Benefit, awards were given to veteran producers Steve Adubato, Ph.D (Caucus New Jersey, One-On-One with Steve Adubato) and Sandra King (Due Process) in recognition for their contributions to public television. Verizon was recognized for its philanthropic support for NJTV; its award was accepted by Leecia Eve, vice president of State and Government Affairs for New Jersey, New York and Connecticut.
NJTV News’ Managing Editor Mike Schneider served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening, which included a dinner reception and awards ceremony followed by a performance by The Midtown Men, four stars from the original Broadway cast of Jersey Boys*. The Midtown Men performance at NJPAC was taped as a concert special which will be offered to public television stations to broadcast nationwide. The concert special will air in the NY Metropolitan area starting in December on NJTV (airdates TBA).
“Support from so many at this Benefit enables us to strengthen local public broadcasting dedicated to New Jersey and make an impact across the state as the only public television network to reach all twenty-one counties in New Jersey,” said Neal Shapiro, president and CEO of WNET, operator of NJTV.
“NJTV has come a long way in just three years,” added NJTV General Manager John Servidio. “With continued support and creative collaboration with community institutions and leaders who support our mission–like those attending this celebration- we’ll continue to thrive and serve the Garden State.”
