Voters Say “Yes” to Sports Betting – Now What?

In an interview with NJToday’s Mike Schneider, Bill Pascrell III, Director of Sports Vote Yes, stated that it will be legal to bet on sports by the start of the 2012 football season. Along with State Senator Raymond Lesniak (D-Union), Pascrell and his group led the effort to make the issue a public question. As part of their campaign effort, he used social media to engage people on the issue. But last night was only phase one in legalizing sports betting in the state. He promised that a bill will be at the Governor’s desk by the end of the year. If the measure becomes law, Pascrell said that a study commissioned by his organization projects a $10 billion per year industry for New Jersey.
