VOICE Summit draws voice-tech leaders from around the world

More than 5,000 people will travel from around the world to attend this year’s VOICE Summit at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. The event brings together leading developers, startups, brands, agencies and executives at the forefront of the voice-first era — those re-imagining how society interacts with technology through voice.

The founder and CEO of Modev, Pete Erickson, says the event, sponsored by Amazon and hosted by Modev, was drawn to Newark because of the tech community and also because of NJIT’s new facility. That decision has also had a big impact on the school in terms of recognition and student enrollment. Joel Bloom, the president of NJIT, says there were over 9,000 applications for freshman class of fall 2019 — a thousand more than the prior year.

The four-day VOICE Summit wraps Thursday.
