Earlier this month, Senate president Steve Sweeney impaneled a select committee to probe NJ Transit and its continued shortcomings and failures. Sen. Loretta Weinberg, a member of that Sweeney-chaired committee, joined Senior Correspondent Brenda Flanagan for a sit-down chat.
“I think having a select committee and enabling the legislature and the public, who will be able to witness it, really get into the nitty gritty of NJ Transit, the problems as well as where there are improvements, will help all of us to come together to find the proper funding mechanism for NJ Transit and the kinds of things that they’re going to need in the new budget. So, I view this as a positive step,” said Weinberg.
Weinberg also speaks about social media complaints from some the agency’s 900,000 daily transit-users, the need for a dedicated source of funding and next year’s budget.
