Report outlines for policymakers how to build a ‘culture of health’

Correspondent Briana Vannozzi speaks to Robert Woods Johnson Foundation senior policy officer Dr. Giridhar Mallya about the report “Building a Culture of Health,” which presents policymakers with a framework to close existing gaps in health care and outcomes based on recent findings. Mallya says “culture of health” means that “everybody in this state has a fair and just opportunity to live out their full health potential” — that means access to health care, affordable and safe housing, benefits like paid family leave and more. He also discusses some of the 13 multi-layered policy recommendations made to the state to help close gaps that are disparate across race and income lines.
