Rep. Payne Says Republicans Need to End Shutdown

Congressman Donald Payne Jr. (D-10) told NJ Today Senior Correspondent Desirée Taylor that he believes a resolution to the government shutdown issue is coming.

According to Payne, the Democratic Party had no part in the government shutdown and blames the Republican Party for leading the country down that road.

Payne said that the Republicans talk about their actions being responsible. “We are talking about default. How responsible is that?” Payne asked.

“We have been optimistic the whole time and have been ready to deal with that. I’m sure with this default looming over their heads, they’re looking for a way to come to some resolution and they started this so they need to end it,” said Payne.
