Recalling a Family’s Crooked Path Through Jersey City

The evolution of Jersey City from gritty industrial city to hipster haven is a story still being written. Author Helene Stapinski grew up in the city and wrote “Five-Finger Discount,” a best seller about her early family life surrounded by petty criminals and other colorful characters. NJTV News Correspondent David Cruz grew up not far away. The two met today in the old neighborhood to discuss the book and a new documentary, which airs next week on PBS.
