Congressman Frank Pallone hosted a roundtable with community leaders Wednesday to discuss his Leading Infrastructure for Tomorrow’s America Act — a major federal infrastructure package.
Pallone says the Lift America Act will expand broadband in underserved areas to give more people access to the internet. The bill would also allocate $33 billion for clean energy, including $4 billion to upgrade the electric grid and another $4 billion to expand renewable energy use, like installing more solar panels in low income communities. More than $21 billion would go toward protecting America’s drinking water.
Last week the president was supposed to discuss this infrastructure package with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, but he walked out of that meeting over other issues stemming from the investigation into his administration.
Pallone says he wants to get President Donald Trump back involved so this will be bipartisan and something he will sign.
