This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of an annual event that helps to maintain and restore an important part of New Jersey’s nautical heritage: lighthouses.
NJTV News Senior Correspondent David Cruz spoke with Nanci Coughlin, the chair of the Lighthouse Managers of New Jersey about the 2019 Lighthouse Challenge, which sees New Jerseyans aiming to visit all of the state’s lighthouses over the course of this weekend. Participants can get a crushed penny souvenir from each lighthouse they visit.
“The Lighthouse Challenge gives those lighthouses an opportunity to earn donations and monies that help the lighthouses,” said Coughlin.
