Lawmakers slam NJ Transit CEO, but propose funding source

Exasperated lawmakers today proposed $500M in annual dedicated funding to run NJ Transit more smoothly — with revenues streams from the Corporate Business Tax, Clean Energy Fund and NJ Turnpike. But first, the Senate Select Committee on NJ Transit sharply criticized agency CEO Kevin Corbett — demanding answers for NJ Transit’s ongoing service problems. Vice-Chair Sen. Loretta Weinberg specifically targeted its “Customer Advocate” Stewart Mader — who she claimed protects the transit agency’s image, instead of truly advocating for its 900K riders.
