With the blizzard watch bumped to a warning, Gov. Christie’s interrupted his campaign to be at the helm on the homefront, meeting with his cabinet on what emergency measures might be necessary.

Among his chief concerns, the fragile power grid that might not withstand high winds and heavy snows. Power companies are already placing replacement poles where they’d be needed most.

Down the shore, waves are the bigger worry. High winds and tides could conspire to form wicked storm surges. Voluntary and mandatory evacuations have already been issued.
