Hudson River Tunnel celebrates 109th birthday, Gateway Program renews call for repairs

The Hudson River Tunnel and the Portal Bridge turned 109 years old. But like any 109 year old, the signs of age are showing. The Gateway Program is using the milestone to renew calls for repairs of the crossings, that support 20 percent of the nation’s economy. Calling it the most urgent infrastructure program in the country.

Adjunct professors have reason to give thanks. A deal was reached that’ll give the biggest wage increase they’ve seen in a four-year contract.

The Commonwealth Fund took a look at what Americans are spending on health care over the last decade. It found that for the 164 million people who have insurance through work, employee premiums and deductibles are rising faster than the median income.
