Health committee chair Herb Conaway on efforts to close racial gap in health care

Assemblyman Herb Conaway, chair of the Health Committee and a medical doctor for over 25 years, sat with Michael Hill to discuss legislative efforts aimed at improving health outcomes for minorities in the state. Black and brown communities were disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and Asm. Conaway is looking to create a task force to study the reasons for that, though he theorizes it is most likely due to the disparities in care minorities faced before the pandemic. They also discussed how telemedicine could help doctors and hospitals in the event of another outbreak.
