While many state and local governments are offering companies incentives to stay put, electronics company LG has decided to keep its headquarters in Englewood Cliffs without asking for extras from the borough.
LG has had its headquarters in Englewood Cliffs for 25 years and has proposed building a new $300 million, 143-foot tall corporate headquarters. The borough’s mayor is on board with the project, as is the Zoning Board which approved the building, in an area zoned for buildings no taller than 35 feet. The project still needs to get the go-ahead from the State Department of Transportation and the Bergen County Soil Conservation District, but LG officials are confident about the approval and hope to begin construction by the end of 2012.
