Coalition says reopen NJ now

Gov. Phil Murphy’s plan to reopen the economy isn’t moving fast enough for some members of the business community, who say businesses are ready and able to reopen at this time. They’ve formed a new coalition called Open NJ Now and have launched a campaign to send emails to lawmakers.

Jersey City is moving forward with a major new project that will bring more affordable housing to the city. Work will start soon on the Bayfront Project, an 8,000 unit development to be built on the west side. Mayor Steve Fulop says 35% of those units will be for affordable housing. The city anticipates work on the project will begin this fall.

Hudson Regional Hospital has reached an agreement to buy the property currently housing Bayonne Medical Center and Hoboken University Medical Center in a $220 million deal. The hospitals are owned by CarePoint, which recently agreed to sell Bayonne Medical Center to another company, BMC Hospital. But Hudson Regional says it wants to move forward and acquire the hospital operations. It’s also interested in buying another CarePoint property, Christ Hospital in Jersey City.
