Church pledges $10K to Newark school so teachers don’t have to pay for supplies

BY Michael Hill, Correspondent |

On Teacher Appreciation Day, the pastor of St. James AME Church came to Quitman Community School in Newark to offer praise and thanks to the teachers. The pastor and his parishioners delivered more than words — they served the whole staff lunch and surprised the faculty members with personalized keepsakes.

Perhaps the best surprise was a pledge of $10,000 from the church for schools supplies so teachers don’t have to buy their own.

Appreciation all around on Teacher Appreciation Day 2019.
