Best Buy Expects More Cyber Monday Shoppers Than Last Year

With Cyber Monday deals starting earlier than the Monday after Thanksgiving and being extended after, President Scott Durchslag told NJTV News Senior Correspondent Desirée Taylor that will have new waves of fresh deals throughout the week, not just today.

Durchslag said 129 million people shopped last year and the National Retail Federation is predicting an increase this year for the site.

He said that this year there are a lot of new and exciting products, such as new gaming platforms, smart phones and televisions. For the first time in seven years, there are two new gaming consoles that launched — the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, he said. started their sales on Saturday, Nov. 30 this year and Durchslag said that is because there are six fewer shopping days this year between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“I think it’s really all about the consumer excitement about the products and about our ability to innovate not only the offers, but also the experiences. We are trying to to do things different this year,” Durchslag said.

Durchslag said that they have been doing a lot to make consumers’ experience simpler, faster and easier. Now it only takes three clicks to check out, he said.

“Consumers will often do research online. They may even buy online, go pick-up in the store, get their questions answered in the store or take things back to the store. We have the ultimate holiday show room. Best Buy is the only place where you can go see a Kindle next to a Surface, next to an iPad, next to all the different Android tablets and really compare them and have an expert blue shirt answer your questions,” Durchslag said.

Durchslag said that Cyber Monday has extended throughout the week and there will be new deals each day. “We have gone deeper on each of our inventory so when people actually come to us in store or online, we have supply of whatever it is they are looking for and we intend to sustain that throughout the week,” he said.
