Gov. Christie Nominates Chief of Staff as New Attorney General

During an afternoon press conference in Trenton, Gov. Chris Christie announced his nomination of Kevin O’Dowd as the state’s new attorney general next year.

O’Dowd has served as Christie’s chief of staff since January 2012. Before that, he was the Deputy Chief Counsel to the governor from January 2010 to January 2012. Before becoming a member of the Christie administration, he was chief of the Securities and Healthcare Fraud Unit in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.

Taking O’Dowd’s place as chief of staff will be Regina Egea, who is currently the director of the Authorities Unit for Christie. Prior to that position, Egea was chief of staff to the state treasurer.

Christie also announced that Amy Cradic will be the new deputy chief of staff. She has been working at the Department of Environmental Protection.
