Transit and motor vehicle officials testify before Assembly budget committee

At a Assembly Budget Committee hearing Monday, the Department of Transportation Commissioner Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti assured lawmakers that Transportation Trust Fund money for road and bridge projects is in the pipeline. She added more funding is headed for county and municipal projects.

NJ Transit Executive Director Kevin Corbett testified that the safety system, positive train control, would be fully operational by December of next year.

Motor Vehicle Commission Chief Administrator Sue Fulton talked about deployment of Real ID licenses and the enforcement of the standards. State residents will need them to board airplanes or enter federal buildings by October 2020.
