The Miss America pageant is leaving Atlantic City for the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Another change to the pageant is that it’ll no longer be held during the week after Labor Day, instead being held six days before Christmas.
The pageant, founded in 1921 vacated Atlantic City for Las Vegas in 2005. It was lured back to the boardwalk in 2013 with $20 million in subsidies over six years from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority.
In its search for a new home the Miss America Organization said it would require of the host city or venue up to $5 million to cover costs.
