DEP advisory to avoid Lake Hopatcong remains in effect

BY Atilla Azami, Production Assistant |

That dangerous rash-inducing cyanobacteria that closed Lake Hopatcong last week remains.

The Department of Environmental Protection says it will be taking aerial surveillance of the green Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) again on Wednesday.

Meantime officials are urging everyone to stay out of the water and keep their pets away from it, too. According to the DEP, based on how widespread the HAB is, the recreational advisory may be in effect for weeks, if not longer.
