The best things to do in New Jersey this summer!

Summer is finally here! As the warm weather comes in, it’s finally starting to feel like summer. School’s out for all of the kiddos so here is a list of family fun activities you can conquer while enjoying this fabulous summer.

Aquariums

See sharks and more up close at Adventure Aquarium!

Grab your flip flops and swim down to the aquarium. It’s no secret that fishes are among the coolest things to look at!

Adventure Aquarium in Camden is home to over 8,500 aquatic species that are housed in two million gallons of water. Adult tickets start at $33 and child tickets start at $26.

Also check out Atlantic City Aquarium which offers over 15 exhibits that range from ocean oddities to reef predators. If you’re brave enough they have a tropical touch shark tank. Adult tickets start at $10 and child tickets start at $6.

Zoos

Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! If you’re an animal lover there’s no doubt the zoo is the perfect place for you. There are a number of zoos all throughout New Jersey so there’s no excuse not to go!

Lounge around and take your time going through the Turtle Back Zoo.

Turtle Back Zoo in West Orange has you covered on all things zoology. This zoo contains many great exhibits featuring both land animals and aquatic animals. Exhibits also take you around the world! Travel from Australia, to the Great Plains and there’s even an exhibit on the Amazing Asia. Adult tickets start at $15 and child tickets start at $12.

You can also head on over to Cape May County Park and Zoo located in Middle Township. This zoo contains a wide variety of animals and features many activities for kids to do while exploring the zoo. Some activities include a daily scavenger hunt or a guided zoo tour. What’s the best part about this zoo? Admission is FREE.

Lastly, pop on over to Popcorn Park Zoo located in Forked River. Popcorn Park Zoo contains 200 animals living all throughout the spacious park. The animals range from farm animals like horses and pigs to exotic animals like lions and lionesses.

Six Flags Great Adventure is a great place to spend the day!

Amusement Parks
Don’t look down! If you love heights and enjoy getting your adrenaline pumping then head to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson. This amusement park contains 59 rides that range anywhere from thrill rides to family ones. If you’re not a roller coaster person, don’t panic! The park complex also includes the Hurricane Harbor Water Park. Six flags offers daily passes, but if you plan on attending multiple times save some money and get a season pass.

Funplex in Mount Laurel and East Hanover is also a amusement park that includes a water park. They have you covered with everything from inside activities like laser tag and bowling to outside activities including roller coasters and water slides. Get that adrenaline pumping!

Can we fix it? Yes we can! Have you ever wanted to be a construction worker? If you answered yes, Diggerland is right for you. Diggerland, which is located in West Berlin, is a construction themed amusement park. All rides have something to do with a construction machine that construction workers use daily. Buckle up and spend a day as a construction worker!

New Jersey is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in America!

 

Beachin’ It
Beat that summer heat by heading down the shore! Beaches across the Jersey Shore are holding family friendly events all summer long. If you’ve ever dreamed of being a surfer then head to Cape May to watch Jersey District surf contests going on throughout the summer. Certain beaches will also be hosting sand sculpting contests, boat parades and many, many more! So check out what’s going on at beach near you. FamilyCon
FamilyCon is the largest family convention in America! You can find it at iPlay America in Freehold on July 8 from noon to 5 p.m. The event offers education, excitement, fun and luxury all in one. Adult tickets start at $15 and child tickets start at $5. The event already boasts 3,000 attendees so make sure you get your tickets fast!

Take in the beauty of horses at farms across the Garden State!

Horse Rides
Be a cowboy or a cowgirl for a day! Miller Farms located in Berlin offers horseback riding and many other attractions. After you get done horseback riding you can head to the monster truck show or the haunted hayride and maze. Each horseback ride is $30 per person.

From farms to ranches, Top View Riding Ranch is found in Blairstown. It’s a western experience back east. Their horseback rides travel along the gorgeous Paulinskill Valley Trail. A half an hour horse ride starts at $25, a full hour starts at $40 and a 2 hour ride starts at $70. They also offer a half day ride which is three hours and a full day of riding which is 6 hours.

Concerts
This summer New Jersey has amazing artists coming to perform. Pick a venue near you!

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford holds 82,500 people!

Coldplay will be in town on Aug. 1 and Justin Bieber will be preforming later in the month on Aug. 23.

Borgata Event Center, Atlantic City
Journey won’t stop believing on June 17. Catch Mary J. Blige on July 3. You can also find comedians Ali Wong, Jay Leno, Jim Gaffigan, Jeff Dunham and John Mulaney all performing in July.

If you go to a show at Prudential Center, leave the car at home and take the train to Newark Penn Station!

Relive the 90s on July 2 with New Kids on the Block, Paula Abdul and Boyz II Men. Earth, Wind and Fire will be performing on Aug. 4 with Chic and Nile Rogers. Lionel Richie will be playing his hits with special guest Mariah Carey on Aug. 18.

BB&T Pavilion, Camden
You can find the Zac Brown Band here on July 14 and 15, Wilco on July 28, Nickelback on Aug. 4 and Jimmy Buffet on Aug. 17, just to name a few. John Mayer will be performing on Aug. 18. You can catch him again on Aug. 19 at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel.

Karaoke Night
Grab those microphones and crank those tunes! Make karaoke night a weekly event with the family. Sing your heart out to your favorite songs in the comfort of your own home. The best part about this activity is that it’s FREE! The app store offers a free app called Karaoke Anywhere. This app lets you get the full karaoke experience without going to a crowded restaurant or having to buy expensive karaoke equipment. It also offers a streaming library with thousands of songs giving you access to a great karaoke experience at your fingertips!

Mini Golf
Get your clubs ready because it’s time for some putt-putt! Pleasant Valley Miniature Golf also known as “The Fun Course” is located in Voorhees. Pleasant Valley Miniature Golf has a great course, but they also have a unique twist. Their caddy snacks include their homemade water ice which comes in 18 flavors from Golfer’s Grape to Ace Apple. Give it a try! Tickets are $6 before 6 p.m. and after that child tickets are $7 and adult tickets are $8.

Island Miniature Golf is the largest minigolf in Wildwood, New Jersey. Besides their awesome golf course they offer a frozen yogurt shop and an insane rock climbing wall. We challenge you to get a hole in one!

State Fair Meadowlands is the boss of all fairs!

Are you craving cotton candy and hot dogs? Good, because the State Fair Meadowlands is open from June 22 to July 9. The fair offers great rides and fun games for family and friends. Not to mention there will be a variety of awesome fair food consisting of cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs and more! Adult tickets start at $8.99 and children tickets start at $6.99. The fair won’t be around for long so don’t forget to go!

Want to sleep under the New Jersey stars for a night? Camp grounds and cabins can be found throughout the state. Some of the most popular campsites are the Lower Forge located on the Batsto River and the Mullica campsite located on the Mullica River. Grab your paddles and sleeping bags, it’s time to start paddling!
