Barnabas-RWJ merger approved by both boards

The long-discussed merger of Barnabas Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Health System — a deal that would create the state’s largest health network — has been approved by the boards of both systems, a source told NJBIZ.

The source, who had knowledge of the negotiations, requested anonymity because the person is not authorized to discuss the deal until it becomes public.

A public announcement could come as soon as Tuesday afternoon.
