NHK WORLD-JAPAN, Japan’s sole public English-language channel, will partner with NJTV to bring live news and Japanese lifestyle programming to Northern New Jersey and the New York City region beginning Sunday, April 1, 2018.
Last year, NJTV launched NHK service for Southern Jersey and the Philadelphia region.
NHK WORLD-JAPAN delivers a unique and diverse blend of English-language programming featuring hourly live international news from Tokyo and 30 news bureaus around the globe and programs on Japanese society, politics, scientific advancement, culture, history, food and lifestyle. The network’s new brand takes effect in April to establish wider global recognition for the service’s Japanese roots in advance of the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Local viewers can watch on Optimum channel 142, Spectrum channel 1279, FiOs 482, Xfinity channels 265 and 1157 or OTA channel 58.2 in Northern New Jersey and New York.
“We look forward to collaborating with NJTV to promote this unique perspective on Japanese culture and lifestyle programming to English-speaking viewers in the Northern Jersey and New York City markets and surrounding suburbs,” said Yoshihiko Shimizu, President and CEO of JIB (Japan International Broadcasting Inc.).
“NJTV’s partnership with NHK WORLD-JAPAN enables us to offer our viewing audience high-quality, diverse lifestyle and entertainment content that appeals to the English-speaking Asian population and the general population in this region,” said John Servidio, NJTV General Manager.
NJTV will also air new additions to NHK WORLD-JAPAN programming in April: Biz Stream, Japan’s Top Inventions, J-Arena, and Kids Meet the World.
