Montclair State University to Host Gubernatorial Debate on

Tuesday, October 15, 2013 and NJTV, New Jersey’s Public Television Network, to Broadcast the Debate Live

October 2, 2013 – MONTCLAIR, NJ – Montclair State University will host the state’s second gubernatorial debate of the 2013 election season at the university’s Alexander Kasser Theater on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 8 – 9:30pm ET (check local listings). The debate between Governor Chris Christie and State Senator Barbara Buono will be broadcast statewide on NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network. The 90-minute debate broadcast, entitled NJDecides 2013: The New Jersey Gubernatorial Debate, will be moderated by NJ Today’s managing editor and anchor Mike Schneider. The debate will be simulcast  on the C-Span networks. It will also be broadcast in Spanish on Vme, the regional public television digital channel. A Spanish translation also will be provided via SAP. It will be rebroadcast by NJTV, THIRTEEN, WWOR-TV, C-SPAN Radio (XM Channel 119)and C-Span cable networks.

The debate will be livestreamed on the websites of Montclair State University, NJTV, C-Span, WBGO 88.3FM, WKXW 101.5FM WNYC and WHYY/NewsWorks.org.

Public Tickets Now Available Online

 Seating for the public to attend the debate will be limited and tickets will be selected via lottery. Requests for tickets can be made online until October 10, 2013.

Updated Media Access Information

 All media planning to attend the gubernatorial debate at Montclair State University must RSVP no later than October 10th via the Press RSVP Link: http://bit.ly/16fAtm9 and in that form must indicate whether their outlet will be sending a video camera crew and transmission vehicle, and/or a still photographer.

 The University will provide a tented media filing center adjacent to the Kasser Theater with television monitors for viewing the debate, workspace, electrical outlets, cellular phone coverage, Wi-Fi Internet access, and refreshments. The media filing center will also include an interview “spin room” area for the candidates and their campaign representatives who wish to do post-debate interviews. All media must RSVP in advance and show credentials prior to admittance to the media filing center.

There will be a limited number of seats made available to media inside the Kasser Theater to watch the debate. However, those opting to sit inside the theater will be confined to that space for the full duration of the debate. Wi-Fi Internet access will be available for laptop computers and mobile devices, but no access to electrical outlets is available, and cell phone calls and video calls from mobile devices will be strictly prohibited inside the theater.
