NJTV OFFERS NEW JERSEY ONGOING U.S. SENATE PRIMARY RACE COVERAGE ON-AIR AND ONLINE WITH TELEVISED DEBATE AND NEWS REPORTS IN AUGUST

PHOTOS UPDATED August 5, 2013–Montclair, NJ – NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network, is providing the state with ongoing U.S. Senate Primary news and special event coverage on-air and online as the political season heats up this August.

A pivotal part of NJTV’s coverage will be the previously-announced U.S. Senate Democratic Primary debate to be broadcast and livestreamed from Montclair State University on Monday, August 5th at 7:30pm. The 90-minute debate broadcast, entitled NJDecides 2013: U.S. Senate Democratic Primary Debate, will be moderated one-on-one interview style by NJ Today’s Managing Editor Mike Schneider, with contributions from Alfred Doblin, Editorial Page Editor of The Record.

The debate will be held in the NJ Today with Mike Schneider studio on the campus of Montclair State University in Essex County. Candidates slated to appear: (subject to change):

  • -Newark Mayor Cory Booker
  • -Rep. Rush Holt (12th Congressional District)
  • -State Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver
  • -Rep. Frank Pallone, Jr. (6th Congressional District)

 

The debate will be livestreamed at http://www.njtvonline.org/programs/njtv-live/  and repeated on-air at 11pm that evening.  Check local listings on NJTV’s website: http://www.njtvonline.org/about/where-to-watch/. Join the discussion on the debate on Facebook and Twitter using hashtag #NJDecides.

A filing room for press will be available at the MSU Dance Theater, adjacent to the DuMont Television Center where the debate will be held, where journalists can watch the televised event and campaign representatives are expected to make themselves available after the debate.

NJTV’s coverage of Primary Day on August 13th will consist of live NJ Today with Mike Schneider newscasts at 6pm and 11pm, with additional live updates at 8:56 and 9:56pm that evening.

*USAGE GUIDELINES FOR NJTV’S BROADCAST OF THE U.S SENATE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY DEBATE AT MONTCLAIR STATE UNIVERSITY

Beginning at 7:30pm on Monday, August 5th, 2013, all media outlets, including Internet media, may excerpt up to 2:00 minutes of material from the debate for their regularly scheduled news programs with appropriate credit (outlined below). There will be no on-site audio/video recording allowed. Pool photography will be provided by NJTV; no external photographers will be permitted to shoot in-studio.

Outlets may record NJTV or the entire debate can also be recorded via Encompass in High Definition on loop 4478 and at The Switch in High Definition on loop NET-1.

The debate program is expected to post at www.njtvonline.org within 24-48 hours following the event.  However, media outlets may not rebroadcast the debate in its entirety unless granted permission by NJTV.

Mandatory credit is required as follows:

*       Television: an onscreen credit reading “NJTV” must appear during each excerpt and remain onscreen for the duration of all excerpts.
*       Radio: each excerpt must be introduced with an audio credit to “NJTV”
*       Internet: excerpts must stream with an “NJTV” credit
