The governor made it clear he wanted to personally apologize to the mayor of Fort Lee but this morning, it wasn’t clear that the mayor was ready to hear it.
Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich said that an apology from Gov. Chris Christie on the same day as the governor’s press conference would be premature. Sokolich said that there should not be much talk about the George Washington Bridge lane closures as an investigation is ongoing.
But he added, “There is not an ounce of venom in my system.”
Christie did visit Fort Lee today and met with Sokolich, saying that the meeting between the two was productive.
