Christie’s Pick for Attorney General Approved for Senate Vote

Jeff Chiesa, Governor Chris Christie’s choice to replace Paula Dow as New Jersey Attorney General, has been cleared for a full Senate vote expected on Monday, the last day of the legislative session. The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved Chiesa’s nomination 12-0.

During today’s hearing, Chiesa received praise from both Republicans and Democrats. Despite their political differences, Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) stated that in all his dealings with the nominee, Chiesa never compromised his integrity.

For the past two years, Chiesa has served as Governor Christie’s chief counsel.

Outgoing Attorney General Paula Dow has been nominated to the bench in Essex County, subject to confirmation.
