The USS Ling has been moored in Hackensack since 1972 and has been a memorial and museum. But now the land is being sold to a developer who plans to build residential properties, retail spaces and a hotel.
The mural, part of the Gateways to Newark initiative, stretches nearly a mile and half down McCarter Highway along the Amtrak retention wall. It’s the largest mural on the East Coast and the second-largest in the country.
