DELHI, N.Y. (AP) — When the kickers in the Super Bowl line up to attempt field goals and extra points during this Sunday’s NFL championship game, they’ll be aiming between uprights made by an upstate New York company.
The Daily Star of Oneonta reports (http://bit.ly/1mXqL0F ) that the aluminum goal posts in the end zones at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., were made by Sportsfield Specialties Inc. in Delhi in rural Delaware County, 65 miles southwest of Albany.
It’s not the first time the upstate firm has made the goal posts used in the big game. The company also provided the same equipment for the 2008 Super Bowl played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
Sportsfield Specialties employs 100 workers. The company mostly markets its products to high schools and colleges.
