EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville has a new provost for the first time in several years.
The university system’s governing board of trustees on Thursday confirmed Parviz Ansari (Pair-VEEZ An-SAR-ee) as the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs for the Edwardsville campus. He succeeds Ann Boyle, who’d been the interim provost for three years.
Ansari has been dean of the College of Science and Mathematics since 2012 at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. Ansari managed seven departments that included 3,100 majors, 16 undergraduate degree programs, eight graduate degree programs and 305 faculty members. He also was a physics professor.
He also founded the New Jersey university’s school of biomedical sciences.
Before moving to Rowan in 2009, Ansari served New Jersey’s Seton Hall University in various capacities since 1983.
