ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — An Atlantic City councilman faces a charge of obstructing the law after officers responding to a report of a fight say they found him wearing a shirt from a policeman’s uniform.
Councilman Rizwan Malik tells The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1hAqlz4 ) he was “wearing something with ‘police’ on it” but does not know why he would be charged.
Malik says the incident police responded to Monday was merely a disagreement between him and a neighbor over damage to his bumper.
Police say the shirt worn by Malik had a former police officer’s name on it. But they say they issued him a second summons, for evidence tampering, after he turned the shirt over to them with the name removed.
No charges were brought as a result of the altercation.
