TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors have released the name of the man whose body was found inside a burning car in Trenton earlier this month.
Mercer County prosecutors had to use dental records to identify the badly burned body Chevin Burgess. They say the 22-year-old Trenton resident died from a gunshot wound, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
Burgess was found by firefighters on Jan. 4 when they responded to the fire on Hart Avenue.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters moved closer to the car to check for hot spots and any remaining fire. They then found the body in the passenger area.
A motive for the shooting and the cause of the fire remain under investigation.
