NEPTUNE, N.J. (AP) — One of New Jersey’s last boardwalks destroyed by Superstorm Sandy has reopened.
Gov. Chris Christie was on hand Thursday, saying the Ocean Grove boardwalk marks the close of another chapter in the Jersey shore’s recovery.
The religious association in the Ocean Grove section of Neptune Township got turned down twice by the Federal Emergency Management Agency for repair money before prevailing on the third try.
Christie also is scheduled to take a walking tour of the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk, which was back in business last summer.
