NJ high school athlete revived after collapsing

MONTVALE, N.J. (AP) — An 11th-grade student athlete in northern New Jersey is in stable condition after he was revived with a defibrillator when he collapsed during track practice.

It’s not known what caused the student to collapse on the turf at Pascack Hills High School in Montvale on Wednesday.

Superintendent Erik Gundersen tells The Record (http://bit.ly/1d3EMuB ) newspaper coaches and a former student who is an EMT began performing CPR when they noticed the boy wasn’t breathing. He was breathing on his own before he was taken to a hospital.
