UNION, N.J. (AP) — A New Jersey police detective used a supermarket’s surveillance video to help track down the person who found a lost engagement ring.
A woman reported the ring missing when she realized it was no longer on her finger after she returned from Shop & Stop.
Union Police Capt. Scott Breslow tells The Star-Ledger of Newark (http://bit.ly/1eCm9fl ) Detective Donald Cook reviewed more than two hours of video when he noticed a man bend over and pick up an object before walking out of the store.
Breslow says Cook tracked the man to a checkout lane and obtained his name from his customer card.
Breslow says the man told the detective he took the ring home because he was unsure what to do.
The woman was happy to have the ring back.
