Man sentenced for distributing child porn online

5-14-14

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A northern New Jersey man who made images and videos of child sexual abuse available online is now headed to federal prison.

Federal prosecutors say 30-year-old Andrew Johnson of Cranford received a 63-month sentence Wednesday and was ordered to pay $13,500 in restitution. He also must register as a sex offender and forfeit the computer equipment he used to commit the offense.

He also will have to serve five years of supervised release once he’s freed from prison.

Johnson pleaded guilty in January to distributing child pornography.

He admitted making the images and videos available through an online peer-to-peer file-sharing network in December 2012. During that time, an undercover law enforcement agent used the network to download one image and 14 videos.
