LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dwayne Johnson says he considers New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie “a buddy” despite making Christie take down an online video that featured the Hollywood star.
The former pro wrestler known as “The Rock” said that after viewing the video, he told the governor’s team that he doesn’t have anything to do with the issue at hand — pension reform.
Christie’s office last week removed Johnson from a trailer that it posted to YouTube for a mock summer blockbuster titled “No Pain. No Gain,” a riff on the title of Johnson’s film “Pain & Gain.”
The 42-year-old action star spoke at the Republican National Convention in 2000. Now, he says he’s “more patriotic” than political. But he won’t rule out a future run at elected office, saying he’s “learned never to say never.”
