NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — A former chiropractor from New Jersey has been convicted on tax fraud charges.
The U.S. Department of Justice says David Moleski was found guilty by a federal jury in New Jersey on Thursday on 14 counts, including failing to file returns for several years, and filing false returns.
Prosecutors said the former Neptune resident submitted three false tax returns for 2006 through 2008, requesting over $1.3 million in refunds that he was not entitled to.
Moleski was also convicted of failing to file tax returns from 1999 through 2005.
Prosecutors say Moleski also obstructed collection efforts and demanded that a third-party financial institution not comply with an IRS levy.
He faces more than 30 years in prison and fines of $250,000 per count at his May 21 sentencing.
