Fire damages store in Long Branch


LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) — No one was injured in a fire at a building housing a furniture refinishing and upholstery shop in Long Branch.

Firefighters faced flames coming from a first-floor window when they arrived on the scene on Third Avenue at 4 a.m. Thursday.

Long Branch Fire Marshall Kevin Hayes tells the Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/1hyXBa0 ) the fire was under control in less than an hour. But Hayes says items on the first floor were destroyed.

The cause is under investigation.
