Ex-employees admit stealing dental practice funds

HALEDON, N.J. (AP) — Two former staffers at a northern New Jersey dental practice have admitted stealing $200,000.

The Record (http://dailyre.co/1ecH3Cn) reports 35-year-old Arlene Marchese of Wayne and 44-year-old Karen Wright of Wyckoff diverted numerous insurance payments over a six-year period. Marchese was the office manager at the practice in Haledon, while Wright was a dental hygienist.

Marchese and Wright deposited the stolen money in a bank account and used it for their own purposes. They were charged in 2012 after the dentist who owned the practice called an insurance company to inquire about payments that he should have received.

The subsequent investigation led to the thefts.

Both women are expected to receive probation terms when they are sentenced May 2. They also will pay restitution.
