PITTSBURGH (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he’s willing to spend a lot of money to ensure his fellow Republican Gov. Tom Corbett gets re-elected this year to another term in Pennsylvania.
The men appeared together Friday afternoon at Pittsburgh’s popular Primanti Bros. restaurant, greeted by dozens of chanting and sign-waving supporters and protesters. While there, the governors posed with restaurant patrons for selfies.
Right before, the men headlined a private fundraiser at a downtown hotel for the Republican Governors Association. The group is Corbett’s biggest campaign donor, and Christie is its chairman.
Corbett is being challenged by Democrat Tom Wolf, a businessman making his first bid for public office.
Wolf appeared Friday morning in Philadelphia to accept the endorsement of one of Pennsylvania’s largest labor unions, Service Employees International Union.
