Christie back to work of building 2016 coalition

6-9-14

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is launching what amounts to a cross-country revival tour.

The potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate is looking to recover from a clumsy political scandal involving the George Washington Bridge, and he’s doing it with on-the-ground appearances, including in Tennessee and New Mexico. After a campaign stop in Pennsylvania, he returns to the late night comedy circuit with an appearance on NBC’s “Tonight Show.”

Then it’s on to Mitt Romney’s Utah summit to meet with donors and GOP establishment leaders. Christie then courts Christian conservatives in Washington.

The governor is raising a record-setting amount of money for other Republicans, too, while bolstering his political network in all the right places — Iowa and New Hampshire, in particular.
