PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — Two men have been charged in the killing of a man whose body was found face down on a frozen pond in a New Jersey state forest.
The Burlington County prosecutor’s office says 20-year-old Ryan J. Sweet and 26-year-old Brandon Dixon, both of Pemberton Township, were indicted Thursday on murder, robbery and other charges.
Dixon’s attorney, Tim Reilly, declined comment Friday, saying he hadn’t had a chance to meet with Dixon since the indictment.
Sweet’s attorney, Michael Riley, said his client would plead not guilty and that the government’s claims about Sweet’s alleged role in the crime were wrong.
Investigators determined that 23-year-old Charles Bauer of Pemberton Township was asphyxiated on January 25, and his body moved to the pond.
Sweet’s bail is $1.5 million. Dixon’s bail is $750,000.
