An open house workshop for the Northside Community Action Plan to gather community input to address vacancy issues, transportation access, flooding and open space, and community safety in the Northside neighborhood along East Main Street and Haledon Avenue in Ward 1 of Paterson.
The Paterson Northside Community Action Plan seeks to to enhance economic opportunities by addressing vacancy solutions for area retail corridors, and by increasing job-focused access to transit. This Action Plan will also explore resiliency measures and open space concepts for the flood-prone areas along the Passaic River and leverage Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles to improve community safety.
The workshop on January 15th is structured as a “drop-in” open house where the community-at-large can come at their convenience. At this meeting, the Project Team will provide a general project overview including the project goals, schedule and process to be implemented. The workshop will include a series of interactive exercises allowing participants to give the Project Team their thoughts and ideas for the Study Area. Participants can move around to various stations structured by topic including:
-Economic Development & Opportunities
-Open Space and Environmental
-Community Design and Safety
The members of the Project Team will be available at each station to discuss concerns, challenges, and priorities for the Study Area.
